Gate 18, which was the Main Entrance to NASA, at the time I was stationed there, was primarily civilian traffic at that time.  It was a one man post, opened in the morning and closed about 5:30 or 6:00.  Sentry would be relieved by the patrol driver, or by a noon relief for lunch.  It was a good post because you got to go home every night, and it was closed on the weekends.  As we changed posts not one Marine would usually get this for an extended period of time.
